FLIGH TRAINING FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Are you an international student seeking helicopter flight training in the United States?

There are many steps involved, but we can help guide the way! Please review the information below for requirements.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

English proficiency

All instruction and flight communications are in English.

You must obtain an FAA Medical Certificate before you can fly.

You must have a valid passport with at least six months remaining before expiration.

TSA Clearance

You must get clearance from TSA before you can start flying with us. See instructions below. 

M-1 Visa

You will need an approved M1 visa, which is completed through the SEVIS system. See instructions below.

$150.00 - special rate


  • Private, Commercial, Add-Ons, CFI: $374 per flight hour
  • Instrument, ATP, and CFII: $384 per flight hour
  • CFI for those who have completed prior certs with us: $404 per flight hour
  • CFI for those coming from other flight schools: $444 per flight hour



  • Standard Ground Instruction: $55 per hour
  • CFI Ground Instruction: $60 per hour

Flight time: 40hrs (FAA minimum) @ $374 = $14,960

Ground Instruction: 25hrs (average) @ $55 = $1,375

PRIVATE PILOT ADD-ON

Reference 61.109C and 61.63 for requirements.


Flight time: 30hrs (FAA minimum) @ $374 = $11,220

Ground Instruction: 10hrs (average) @ $55 = $550


COMMERCIAL PILOT ADD-ON

Reference 61.109C and 61.63 for requirements.


Flight time: 50hrs (FAA minimum) @ $374 = $18,700

Ground Instruction: 10hrs (average) @ $55 = $550

Prior experience required: must hold a valid private pilot helicopter certificate. 

Instrument Rating Course may be combined with Commercial to make it more cost effective.

Ground Instruction: 35hrs (average) @ $55 = $1,925

Flight time: 10hrs (FAA minimum) @ $384 = $3,840

Ground Instruction: 15hrs (average) @ $55 = $825

Rates below are for students who have completed their PPL and CPL from Tomlinson. If you have received your PPL and CPL from an outside flight school, cost per hour is $444.00. 


Flight time: 15hrs (FAA minimum) @ $404 = $6,060

Ground Instruction: 20hrs (average) @ $60 = $1,200

Prior experience required: must hold a valid CFI certificate and a valid Instrument certificate.

Rates below are for students who have completed their PPL and CPL from Tomlinson. If you have received your PPL and CPL from an outside flight school, cost per hour is $434.00.


Flight time: 15hrs (FAA minimum) @ $384 = $5,760

Ground Instruction: 20hrs (average) @ $60 = $1,200

Prior experience required: must hold a valid private helicopter certificate.


Flight time: 10hrs @ $1,250 = $12,500

Ground Instruction: 20hrs (average) @ $55 = $1,100
